While the whole government is against the agitation of India Against Corruption under the leadership of Anna Hajare, there is hardly any Member of Legislation who actually supports the Janlokpal Bill proposed by Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan, Shanti Bhushan, Kiran Bedi and Santosh Hegde. Yet, most of the politicians in opposition refrained from directly opposing and criticizing Anna Hajare and his agitation against corruption.

The few MLAs who decided to attack the IAC and Anna Hajare included Lalu Prasad Yadav, the former chief minister of Bihar and the president of Rashtriya Janta Dal.

It is not very difficult to understand why he is against the Ombudsman bill as proposed by the civil society and why he considers the bill proposed by government is much better, reliable and proper.

What Lalu Prasad Yadav says against Anna Hajare and ombudsman bill proposed by civil society IAC?

Lalu Prasad Yadav was venomously criticizing Baba Ramdev calling him thug and corrupt and he also criticized Anna Hajare abusing him of being corrupt and tyrant and so on. He says that the bill proposed by Anna Hajare will reduce the importance of Parliament and will provide powers to those who are not politicians and may come from common people.

Obviously, he wants Parliament to be supreme and Parliamentarian to be superior. He can’t imagine a situation where parliamentarian will be forced to work honestly otherwise they will suffer swift corruption charges, swifter investigations and swiftest punishment.

Lalu Prasad Yadav also worries that if whole power to check corruption and punish corrupt will be provided in hands of non-political ombudsman, there may occur chances of the ombudsman being corrupt himself.

His doubts are valid. Power corrupts everyone and if the Lokpal is made as strong as Anna Hajare is demanding, there will be good chances of corruption of ombudsmen.

However, Lalu Prasad Yadav is not worried about the Lokpal being corrupt. His major worries are if the Lokpal will be allowed to hold all major powers even on the Prime Minister and Judiciary, than why will he be a politician?

It must be noted that a politician gets addicted to rule, control and dominate others. If the Ombudsman will be powered enough by the Janlokpal bill to check and rule against any politician including the Prime Minister and the government controlled Judiciary system, how will the politicians enjoy the fun of ruling, controlling, exploiting and dominating others when the Lokpal him or herself will be dominating them?

Yet, Lalu Prasad Yadav is right. Politicians are corrupt because they have power to rule, control, dominate common people1 by means of their prerogative to make and break laws and to execute them.

Since they make, break and execute laws, they never accept that they are corrupt because rather then being blamed as corrupt, they prefer to change the laws in favor of them. Lalu Prasad Yadav never accepted his corruption in Fodder scam and he still is just an accused just like Suresh Kalmadi is accused in CWG scam and A. Raja is accused in 2G scam.

The best thing for him in such situation would be to become an Ombudsman. But that would be impossible because the ombudsmen will not be chosen by the old beaten path of referendums, rather; they will be chosen by a proper selection process as proposed by IAC.

This is the main problem of Lalu Prasad Yadav who is already suffering huge corruption charges of Fodder Scam. He is neither well educated, nor is he very intelligent and surely, he doesn’t hold too much public support too. So he has no way out but to directly criticize and abuse people like Swami Ramdev and Anna Hajare and to try to abort all plans of IAC to grab power from the hands of the government.

What Lalu Prasad Yadav says in support of lokpal bill proposed by Government?

He says it is an honest try to control corruption and the current UPA government is the best government because it has actively tried to arrest corruption and that is why Suresh Kalmadi, A Raja and Kanimojhi are behind bars.

However, he forgets to mention that it is the same government which has provided proper protection for him against the legal proceedings that might have booked him in Tihar Jail for a long period on the charges of the famous Fodder Scam.

He also forgets that Indian National Congress whose current working president is Rahul Gandhi as Sonia Gandhi is in the USA (nobody knows if she is ill or she is avoiding paparazzi that may disturb her during the Anna Hajare movement) bought political support from Mayawati.

In return, Mayawati got political immunity for herself against the Taj Corridor Scam Charges. Lalu Prasad Yadav also forgets that the famous Bofors scam in which Late Prime Minister and Congress president Rajeev Gandhi was accused of corruption worth Rs40 crores hasn’t been solved till now.

Lalu Prasad Yadav also fails to talk about DMK Leader Karunanidhi and his alleged corruption, he fails to talk about Oommen Chandi who is facing a probe in Palmoliein oil scam, he fails to talk about the former Andhra Cheif Minister and Congress leader YSR Rajshekhara Reddy.

He forgets to tell the truth that irrespective of huge number of corruption charges, no Indian politician have ever faced any punishment ever.

Even Suresh Kalmadi, A. Raja and others are facing prohibition imprisonment, they are accused and the court hasn’t declared them corrupt yet. So it is quite possible that they may return clean just like Lalu Prasad Yadav and others are enjoying the fun.

Being a common citizen, I believe that common men will gain no benefit from any of the Lokpal bill, but the government will lose.

I support Anna Hajare because all the India Against Corruption movement actually provides a way to show the people that authority can never be trusted as authority will always be corrupt, be it the authority of the government or the authority of the Janlokpal bill because the reality is, Power Corrupts.

Conclusion:

It is true that Anna Hajare and IAC’s Janlokpal Bill will fail to check corruption and there are chances that the Lokpal themselves will become corrupt because they will have the power to control not only the people but also the politicians, government and the Judiciary.

Yet, Lalu Prasad Yadav is not opposing Anna Hajare or Janlokpal because he is against corruption, he is opposing and actually abusing Anna Hajare because like other politicians, he is addicted of the power to rule, control and dominate others2 .

He can’t accept dominance of others on him and other politicians.

He might have supported Janlokpal Bill if he had a chance to be the head or one of the members of Janlokpal Committee because than he might have the omnipotent powers of Ombudsmen. Since it is not possible he will keep opposing Anna Hajare’s Lokpal bill.

What Laluprasad Yadav saying is not untrue. The write up is superfluous as it does not understand what the gravity of his saying and about his corruption he calls L Yadav as illiterate (He is BA LLB) and what about the qualification of Hajare? He is 8th class learned mahapurush! The media and upper castes have always criticized/maligned lalu because he is vehemently opposed to castiest and communal reactionaries. Those who are behind the scene are the fascists forces. Corruption is the symtom of the corrupt and inhuman social system eating into the human rights of the shudras and ati-shudras. Only casteless social order will minimize corruption but not end.

      Dear Nagesh,

I never said that Laloo Prasad Yadav is Illiterate. He is corrupt and it is true. I didn’t appreciated Anna Hajare or Janlokpal Bill too, I consider them a bane for India and it will increase corruption too.

Yet, it would be foolish to start appreciating Laloo Yadav, he is nothing better than a criminal. About Casteless society, it has nothing to do with corruption. Most of the government officers are of OBC and SC/ST quota that doesn’t decrease corruption. Corruption isn’t the thing of caste.
Why Janlokpal Bill is superfluous? Read it here Can Anna Hajare Remove Corruption

Now much water has flown sincethe beginning of Anna’s movement. His team and himself are not puritans. If you see list of least corrupt countries you will find least corrupt countries are those in which there is socio-economic equality. The shallow people and proxy people do not understand the importance of equality. They are mesmerised by shallow movements and do not go to the root cause of corruption or dire inequalities. See Transparency International’s report and see why Netherland and New Zealand are least corrupt. The so called messiahs do not talk of equality either social or economic. They are the stooges of the forces which are bent upon mainataining the inequalities. India’s social system itself is based on corrupt like untouchability and caste hierarchy which is not seen or felt by unconcerned elites.

I wonder why only the writer has targeted Mr. Yadav in her blog. Neither has he made any revelation statement regarding Anna nor has he done anything which demands public attention. Whatever statements he has made, the same statements are parroted by every political parties. Then , why this Anna V/s Lalu all of a sudden?

You pointed a valid reason- Casteless society is nothing to do with corruption. However, i wonder if it is true in Indian context. Take, for example , your article. You have associated Fodder Scam with Lalu Yadav. ( Ans so does the ” so called sovereign media” ) However, no one points the fact that the fodder scam did not start during the Lalu days. Mr. Jaggannath Mishra was the CM when this scam started. However, if my memory serves me right, no “casteless” media has painted Mr .Mishra with the same colours as they paint Mr. Yadav.

I am neither defending Mr. Yadav over his actions , nor i can say that he is innocent. But i would not resist in replying to some sections of your views to which i have different perspective.

I wonder about your wondering. I saw Lalu Prasad Yadav criticizing Anna Hajare on national news channel (DD-News). I do not support Anna Hajare and his agitation, but when I heard Lalu Prasad Yadav taking antagonistic position against Hajare, I had a point to make LaluVs Hajare.

Second thing is about Jaggannath Mishra, I didn’t watch or heard him saying anything about Hajare, so why will I bring him in specially when I am concerned with persons talking against Anna Hajare?

You might have raised the Issue why I didn’t mentioned Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari, but you see, that was old issue, when I wrote this article, It was Lalu who was debating against Hajare. It has nothing to do with casteism, it has everything to do with current happenings. and by the way, who told you that the writer, that is me, is not a Yadav? What if my name is Pratibha Yadav?

Lalu is a corrupt leader and I am not talking about others yet, most of them are corrupt, Lalu became the representative by his own will, I didn’t forced him, did I? Ask him.
