The Failure of Right to Education

The Failure of Right to Education

The Indian UPA government announced the right to education in 2009 and no opposition party opposed it. However, it was pretty clear that declaring education as a right is ridiculously irrational and unrealistic. Obviously, the whole concept of Right to Education was destined to fail in a dismal manner and it was destined to ruin whatever goodness Indian education system had. I have discussed about the irrationality of right to education and the myth of education for all (or Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan) in previous posts and now, after three years of that dreadful political gimmick, when the whole concept of RTE Act or similarly, the free healthcare system; is a proven failure, I would like to discuss about why Right to Education was bound to be a failure. According to the Annual Status of Educational Report (ASER), “the number of class III students in both government and private schools who could not do simple arithmetic has increased. In 2011 only 21% students could do simple subtraction against 19% in 2012.” That is, 81 out of 100 Indian students of Class III couldn’t do simple subtraction in 2012. I must clarify that Indian education system is almost completely governed by the …Read the Rest

The Quibbling at ICR Continues

I clarified that my rebuttal to the article of Kalavai Venkat at CRI wasn’t any defense for libertarianism (which actually requires no defense); rather, it was a sincere rebuttal and opposition to his idea of state-atheism that he has tried to propound. However, he is now trying to take a direct shot at libertarians, so instead of defending his position for State-Atheism, he has provided 14 responses to register his opposition. In my other article, I have exactly showed that Kalavai Venkat, despite of promoting the idea of Hindu Atheist Nation, neither is atheist (he is anti-theist) nor is he a lover of the idea of Indian philosophy and that is why his all allegations were actually based on western half-baked idea of memes or memetics. Here I am offering some clarifications on the 14 points he has raised. 1) After declaring himself as an atheist and then categorically confirming that all Abrahamic religions are evil (Abrahamic religions are Islam, Christianity, Judaism), he is now suggesting that he isn’t preaching anti-theism and he do support Hinduism. This is contradictory in essence. He also suggests that religions should be refined; and who will refine them? Obviously, he seems to have a …Read the Rest

Richard Dawkins trapped in Ill-Information of Economic and Political Memes

Richard Dawkins is a well known biologist, a genius who has offered so much knowledge and information to this world that it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he is one of the heroes of our generation. Some of his best works include his 1976 book The Selfish Gene which offered a gene-centered view of evolution and provided the term meme and the concept of memetics. Richard Dawkins is a staunch atheist with an excellent ability to refute any theological concept that hampers individual liberty. Through his book The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins almost certainly established that the God doesn’t exist and all theory of creationism and beliefs in a Supreme Being is delusion. An atheist like me would never argue against that and in fact, Richard is such a genius that it is really difficult to refute him. However, even the geniuses commit mistakes and they often do so when they start extrapolating their scientific ideas into other realms of human studies. Various other researchers developed the idea of meme to memetics to stress on the idea about how difficult it is for a human being to develop free thoughts of his own. However, memetics has been widely refuted …Read the Rest

Issue of Protection and Justice in a Free Society

Issue of Protection and Justice in a Free Society

One of the hottest arguments among the circles of freedom movement is the issue of protection and justice in a free society. One can easily observe a huge schism between libertarians who prefer to call themselves as Voluntaryists, Anarcho-capitalists, or simply Anarchists and those libertarians who prefer to call themselves as miniarchists. On the other hand, we have Objectivists who claim that a government is must for the protection of capitalism and freedom and they also offer an insight about what the government should be, or what should be ‘The Nature of Government,’ which is a great article written by Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand explained that ‘A government is the means of placing the retaliatory use of physical force under objective control—i.e., under objectively defined laws,’ as she defined a government as an institution that holds the exclusive power to enforce rules of social conduct in a given geographical area1 . Obviously, at some level, it seems that Ayn Rand was analysing Thomas Hobbes’ leviathan theory of social contract and its criticism by John Locke. However, Ayn Rand exclusively stressed that the government should be voluntary, or the government financing should be voluntary. Her idea resembled with the idea of …Read the Rest
