While the year 2011 is the year of agitations and rebellions around the world, the upcoming year 2012 will be the change of elections to bring about a change in political rulers. The citizens of the United States will again use their right to vote to opt for a new President in 2012 and around the same time, Indians will also have a chance to cast their votes for the legislative elections in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab. Why Politicians Try to Defame Each Other? In India, the political blame game has already been initiated with L.K Advani’s “rathyatra” as he has planned to travel through all the states which will have elections next year. His issues of political debates include inflation, price rise and unemployment, the main issue which he is raising about is the corruption in governing bodies. Obviously, he is trying to create a negative ripple against the current UPA government so that the opposition parties may gain support of the citizens in the upcoming elections. For doing so, the whole opposition party is blaming the current government for widespread corruption and ineptness to reduce it. Neither the ruling party, nor the opposition has …Read the Rest

The Failing Democracy
While democracy is considered as the best form of government, this form of government also has its own inherited demerits. The proponents of democracy have often used Sigmund Freud’s principle of psychoanalysis and crowd mentality to spread favorable environment for democracy. However, the most ardent proponents of democracy have found that it is difficult for individuals to remain free under a democratic government. Let us analyze the views of Edward Bernays and Ayn Rand about democracy. Sigmund Freud: The founder of Psychoanalysis, he was a genius who knew how to understand human beings. Obviously it is not so easy. His researches produced marvels. Yet, not everybody was impressed by his theory of psychoanalysis. In fact, many of his critics accused that major part of his theory is nothing but a result of his use of cocaine and hence is unreliable. Sigmund Freud was one of the most ardent proponents of cocaine use and he advised cocaine use as a stimulant and an analgesic to his patients. Edward Bernays: He was the one who used Freudian theory to its maximum. The founder of PR used the concept and importance of unconscious mind in understanding the conscious thought and behavior of human …Read the Rest
The Myth of Education for All
While trying to analyze how to remove poverty, people often suggest that providing education for all will improve economic conditions for all. Somehow people believe that education improves economic conditions and this is a widespread myth. This myth originates from a real fact that skilled workers can produce and earn more than unskilled workers. However, skills are often not taught in our education system and the goal pursued by government is to provide basic literacy among the masses. Indian government is trying to achieve 100% literacy rate since 1947. In 1947, Indian population was 360 million and in 2011, it rose to 1125 millions. Adult literacy rate of India is 61.8%. We have more than 360 million of illiterate Indians. (Remember the famous dialogue of Amitabh Bachchan from the movie Aarakshan? (इस देश में दो भारत बसते हैं!) Is the idea of Free Education for all is Viable? Last year, Indian parliament passed a bill for making education free for all. If India is 100% educated, who will perform the blue collar jobs such as cleaning toilets, working on constructional sites, barbering etc. for which no higher degree of education is required? Such jobs even don’t need a person to …Read the Rest
Bribing Legal or Illegal
Let me clear this out, I am not going to present any satire. I am damn serious about this issue and I believe that Bribing is not a crime. To understand the logic of this debate, please read Logic of Legal or Illegal. Recently, Infosys chairman N R Narayan Murthy said that bribing should be legalized1 while taking bribes should be a crime. He was brutally criticized for his statement especially when Anna Hajare is on fast-unto-death against corruption. Rational Libertarian Corner is dedicated to provide a logical approach towards every controversial issue and hence I am raising this issue here. Why Bribing should Be Legalized? It is important to understand that money is not something that you can attain by luck. Money is essentially a measure of your labor that came worthy to someone. For example, if you make shoes for someone, he will pay you some money in return of your labor. Thus, your money is your hard earned labor. If you earned your money through stock market, then this money is also a measure of your labor you performed assuming the risk involved with your investment. This money is a reward for your mental labor used in …Read the Rest
